Building a School Community

Building a strong community is essential to the development and sustainability of a school. The community begins in the classroom and spans out to the surrounding areas and with technology can reach across the globe. To build a successful community the individuals involved must have common values and vision. All individuals involved need to have an ability to make decisions and influence the decisions that govern the community. The building starts in the classroom by first developing a supportive and inclusive classroom that provides everyone the opportunity to learn. This drives production of a curriculum that is both individualized and rigorous to allow continuity between the classrooms in a district. The district now has the tools to run the school and become a productive part of the community.
